NMG DONATES TO ORGANISATIONS SUPPORTING SENIORS

NESECET founder, Ms. Keneilwe Mpuang, stated that she started the organisation after recognising a need to improve the care and support provided to the elderly in Botswana. Concerned by the isolation and loneliness some elders faced, she wanted to create a space where the elderly could be nurtured both physically and emotionally, a place where they could gather and be empowered. NESECET’s vision is to build a centre for older persons, offering them care and opportunities to engage in productive activities.

Currently, the organisation has secured land for the project in Mogoditshane Block 9 and is working towards constructing the facility.

Sedibeng Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the lives of the elderly through a wide range of initiatives that promote health, fitness, personal care, and literacy. Foundation representative Ms. Abueng Binns underscored the importance Sedibeng places on supporting elders to remain healthy, active, and engaged. Current programmes include regular wellness checks, exercise sessions, and literacy classes, with plans to introduce arts and crafts workshops every Friday.

In addition, the foundation often partners with professionals, from healthcare practitioners to legal experts, to provide valuable education and guidance tailored to the needs of older persons. While currently based in Kopong, Ms Binns emphasised that Sedibeng’s vision is to extend nationwide. With outreach already encompassing neighbouring villages, including Lentsweletau, Metsimotlhabe, Radisele, and Ditshukudu, the foundation aspires to establish centres across the country that foster physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing for the elderly.

Speaking on behalf of NMG, Mr. Thabiso Mosime-a-Kelaotswe, Head of Operations, and Ms Karabo Lesokwane, Risk & Compliance Manager, both explained that the company considered it important to support initiatives for the elderly, as its work is closely connected to pensioners. They highlighted that NMG’s commitment extends beyond its core operations, reflecting a sincere dedication to contributing to community upliftment and enhancing the quality of life for older persons.

By partnering with organisations that prioritise elder care, NMG continues to demonstrate its dedication to building stronger, more inclusive communities. The company believes that investing in programmes which enrich the lives of older persons is not only a responsibility but also a way to honour those who have contributed meaningfully to society throughout their lives. These donations reflect NMG’s purpose of always finding a better way to support individuals across every stage of their journey, from the first day of employment through to retirement and beyond.
